The Hill and Nexstar’s Product team are looking for a seasoned, results-focused product leader to help drive the evolution of The Hill’s digital consumer experiences, including thehill.com Website, video, native mobile apps, newsletters, and more. The Sr. Director, Product Management will be a key member of Nexstar’s product center of excellence, contributing to the strategy, implementation, and maintenance of internal and consumer-facing features and functionality in The Hill’s portfolio of digital offerings. Interfacing directly with Nexstar Digital’s wider Product, Program Management, Technology, and Revenue teams, the Sr. Director will also represent The Hill in the larger product development process and lifecycle.
This Washington, D.C.-based position requires experience with news, politics, policy, and elections content in digital formats. The Sr. Director will collaborate closely with The Hill’s editorial, video, digital, and revenue teams to craft, communicate, and execute on priorities and projects. Simultaneously, there will be close collaboration with the Nexstar Digital team to see projects and initiatives through to completion.
An ability to navigate both strategic and day-to-day product priorities is essential to this role, as is a relentless focus on users and success metrics. Clear, actionable communication to and with a variety of multidisciplinary stakeholder groups is also key. Given Product’s centrality to the digital product lifecycle, the Sr. Director will be a highly organized, but flexible, problem-solver and solution-seeker.
Responsibilities
Drive Product-focused feature development for The Hill’s digital properties, including thehill.com Website, digital video products, mobile apps, and more
Collaborate on a day-to-day basis with The Hill’s business, content, video, and revenue teams to help meet engagement and revenue goals
Liaise directly with Nexstar’s Digital Product, Revenue, Engineering, Program Management, and Analytics teams to drive The Hill’s digital product priorities
Contribute to/help communicate group priorities and roadmap to stakeholders.
Author clear, actionable requirements in an Agile development environment.
Use a variety of reporting and project management tools to communicate and document across The Hill’s portfolio including Jira, Confluence, etc.
Participate in end-to-end digital feature rollouts and maintenance including:
Requirements gathering
Feature Definition (User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, etc.)
Conducting user acceptance testing
Creatin detailed product artifacts such as PRDs and training documentation.
Intake, triage, and follow-through on stakeholder bug/feature reports via systems like Zendesk
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Product leader with proven knowledge and experience working on digital Politics/Policy/Elections products
Demonstrated record of driving digital product growth via both ideation and iteration (KPI/OKR growth and material increase in core product value)
Ability to own end-to-end Product development, from ideation to deployment
Fierce advocate for users
Consumer digital experience expert
A focus on both revenue/ROI and engagement
Stellar communication and project management skills with the ability to weave strategy, insights, priorities, and plan into a structured and organized storyline at all levels of management and stakeholders.
Basic digital Analytics acumen (traffic/engagement, etc.) using reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Looker, etc.
Ability to create wireframes and work with design-focused software like Photoshop, Adobe XD, Figma, etc.
Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making
Product experience working directly with Content, Video, Revenue, Design, Program Management, and Engineering teams to build and ship features products
Proven track record of launching, maintaining, measuring, and improving Politics/Policy/Elections Websites, video products, or mobile apps
Expert at communicating effectively with a variety of stakeholders and collaborating and managing projects within a large geographically diverse company.
Knowledge of Agile Software Development Product Management methodologies, tools, and practices (gathering and writing requirements, prioritization, user acceptance testing, etc.)
