Director of Product Management

Full-Time Anywhere Salary: $135,000-$170,000

As a Director of Product Management, you will:

Strategy: Collaborate closely with the Managing Director to help provide strategic direction and an implementation plan for Product Management within the Lift Off unit.

Investment Time: responsibility for working with Product Managers to develop and manage their Investment Time learning pathways in line with growth horizons and interest levels
Scheduling: work with Lift Off leadership to schedule new projects, rotations, and ensure coverage for PTO in order to ensure the company’s best operations standards and resolve scheduling conflicts for team and clients

Process Improvements: manage cross-team dynamics to ensure customer and team success, proactively instituting process improvements across your team, e.g., review and provide feedback on roadmaps, strategic plans and retros
Anticipate Headcount Needs: Anticipate and budget for headcount changes, external hires, internal transfers, and succession planning

Culture: Create a transparent, collaborative and dynamic team culture, embracing thoughtbot’s core values and modeling behavior

Communication: Communicate status and challenges to Managing Director and across to stakeholders as you work cross-functionally with other teams to execute features and ensure a cohesive integration across the broader organization

Business Development: Present a compelling narrative of the Lift Off team, the value of thoughtbot, and the value that product management brings to teams. Attend client prospecting and scoping calls, gathering information from current and prospective customers as well as helping close deals.

Management: Manage the performance of your team of product managers, including providing regular feedback, holding recurring 1:1’s, writing performance reviews, determining compensation, making promotion decisions, leveling up the skill sets, helping product managers set career goals, coaching through difficult situations, providing honest critical feedback

Product Management Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for the role of product management and for Lift Off generally and provide guidance to the leadership team into customer needs, business strategy, marketplace dynamics and competitors. Stay up to date on product development and identify opportunities for to drive larger impact

Conferences & Visibility: Attend conferences

Onboarding & Offboarding Team Members & Clients: Follow consistent onboarding and offboarding processes for both team members and clients

DEI: Support DEI initiatives and actively recruit for underrepresented minorities when open positions exist.
