This role is an initial 12-month fixed term contract, with a view to move to permanent.

The Product Manager will work collaboratively with the Head of Product on the product strategy and roadmap for our energy systems modelling software. A key aspect of the role will be to drive usage of and engagement with the product.

The role also involves working with the Senior User Researcher, Head of Marketing, energy systems modellers, engagement analysis and domain experts across the business to make important product decisions and deliver best-in-class products for our users.

Short-Term Goals for Product Manager – 6 months after joining

  • Deliver roadmap features for our main product the Model Builder

  • Develop a strategy to improve user on-boarding, engagement and product-led growth with the Head of Product for the product

  • Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation

  • Work with the data teams to ensure the data dependencies for the software products are delivered on time

Long-Term Goals for Product Manager – 12 months after joining

  • Contribute the product vision and strategy

  • Implement of new features and product initiatives to reach new users and new markets

  • Appraise new product ideas and develop appropriate strategies to implement new product ideas and initiatives, including potential changes to the existing product

  • Develop detailed needs and user personas with the Senior User Researcher and in-house domain experts to prioritise features in the product roadmap

  • Demonstrate new ideas and features to stakeholders, team members and users of the product


Reporting to the Head of Product and working closely with the Senior, User Research and Head of Marketing, the main function of this role is to be responsible for the execution of the model builder product. On a day-to-day basis you’ll be expected to lead on:

  • Full product lifecycle – drive the execution of all processes including market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements, roadmap development and product launch

  • Product execution – translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering teams with the product owner

  • Product usage and UX – develop user on-boarding and engagement strategies that include customer support and learning to ensure a high quality user experience, and reoccurring usage of the product, while tracking against key company KPIs

  • Cross-functional collaboration – collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams in the development, QA, and release of products

  • Product growth – develop product positioning and implement product-led growth strategies in conjunction with the marketing team

  • New features – drive the strategy and implementation of new features and product initiatives to reach new users and new markets
